Michael Bolton says his father, Bobby, has had the greatest influence on his life. Michael describes his father as someone who always showed his love for his family…but also taught him that life’s mistakes have consequences.
When he was young, Michael watched as drugs and alcohol abuse ripped his father away from his family. Just three days before his 11th birthday, Michael lost his father to cancer. Even though their time together was brief, Michael’s father taught him to be thankful just to be alive, to put nothing before his family, to always take accountability for his actions and to understand that actions have consequences.
Michael maintains a 4.0 GPA at Smyrna High School, where he plays varsity football, City League baseball and several hours every week. Voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by his classmates, Michael is described by his teachers as “someone who strives for perfection.” He also helps his mother at home by taking care of his niece each day, before and after school.
The fourth of four children and the first member of his family to attend college, Michael plans to attend Ohio State University and says his goal is to make his family proud.
