Jeffrey Bernard is determined not to let one event destroy his entire life. The youngest of four children, Jeff lived with his mom in Michigan after his parents divorced. With his three older siblings away at college, Jeff and his mom were the only ones left at home.
In 2004, Jeff lost both of his parents when his father’s alcoholism led to his mother’s death and his father’s eventual incarceration. Jeff had to leave his life in Michigan and move to Nashville where he now lives with his older sister
Despite this difficult experience, Jeff managed to excel at school and at home. He currently maintains a 4.0 GPA at Hillsboro High School and is a member of the National Honor Society. Jeff also runs track and cross country.
Jeff says it isn’t easy, but he knows his mother would want to see him succeed. He says the key to his success has always been staying focused on his goals no matter what happens along the way.
Hoping to pursue a career creating video games, Jeff plans to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology.
