Described by her school counselor as “one of the brightest and most talented members of her senior class,” you would never suspect that Elizabeth Sweet overcame a series of traumatic personal experiences. With a father that was sent to prison at a very young age and ordered never to see her or her sister ever again, Elizabeth was determined to pull herself up from a disturbing, tragic situation and focus on the good things in her life. And just when things were going smoothly, she was hit with another tragedy when she witnessed the death of speech coach and mentor right before her eyes. While this event was devastating, again Elizabeth courageously chose to push forward and harnessed her energy to excel in school, earning an impressive GPA of 4.21 and a score of 33 on her ACT and a 1510 on her SAT.
In addition to Elizabeth’s outstanding academic achievements, she was also a member of her schools award winning speech and debate team and a National Honor Society Member. She also made time to give back by serving as an academic tutor for middle school students and regularly volunteered her time at Mercy’s Children Clinic and the Hope Line with Dawson McAllister, a call center for troubled teens.
Elizabeth aspires to attend an Ivy League school and obtain a degree in International Relations with hopes to shape international policy or work for an international NGO like Doctors Without Borders.
