Andrew Haag

Andrew, his two brothers and their father were on their
way to church one Christmas Eve when a car struck their mini van head on. His father and one brother were killed. Andrew survived but sustained devastating injuries and was told he would never walk again.

After numerous surgeries and years of physical therapy, Andrew now walks with the assistance of forearm crutches and despite his injuries, remained active in football. He continued his older brother’s legacy as Hendersonville High football team’s manager, providing constant support to the team, and as a senior was awarded the “Commando Pride Award”—an honor usually reserved for players.

Andrew also participated in numerous extra
curricular activities including service on the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital Pediatric Advisory Council and
graduated with a 3.96 GPA. Andrew attends University of Tennessee in Knoxville is the football team’s manager and retrieves the tee after every kickoff.
